FLIPPED - The Upside Down Ways of Jesus' Kingdom
Coming out of HOPE TO CARRY ON, we will launch into an exploration of the foundational teachings of Jesus through the Sermon on the Mount. There is a twofold purpose. For the un-churched and de-churched, the teachings in the Sermon on the Mount will allow them to see Jesus for who He is, hear directly from Him, be confronted with the Gospel, and be challenged by His Kingdom vision for the world. For the believer, Kevin Harney says that one of the best ways to raise your outreach temperature is to study the life of Jesus. With this full immersion into the teachings of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount, I am confident that people’s outreach temperature will increase. They will hear from Jesus the clear need that the world has for a Savior, and how He came to usher in the very things the world is longing for.
FLIPPED is the first of 4 series on the teachings of Jesus found in the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew chapters 5-7.
FLIPPED is about the upside downs ways of Jesus’ Kingdom as seen in the Beatitudes and His teaching on salt & light, and on how to fulfill the Old Testament Law.
The main point of the Sermon on the Mount is expressed in Matthew 5:20, “Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.” So, the values of the kingdom are “flipped.” And they are based on a “surpassing righteousness” or a surpassing goodness that people in the Kingdom possess. And the only way to possess this kind of righteousness is for God to put it in you – or confer it upon you. The very thing Jesus came to earth to make possible for all who believe in Him and call on his name for salvation.

MAIN POINT: Who's living the dream? Jesus has an answer to this question. Blessed is anyone who is alive in the kingdom of God.
