Dec 10 (Wed) – John 14:27 – Jesus gives peace not as the world gives.
READ
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
DEVOTION
John 14:27 tells us of the night before the crucifixion when Jesus is talking with his disciples and reminds them of his peace - not worldly peace, but a deep, enduring spiritual peace. He is reassuring them not to fear but to trust Him.
There are days when our hearts feel scattered—pulled by worries, weighed down by things we can’t seem to fix - schedules, finances, situation outcomes- it’s so difficult to be unsure of what’s happening next! It’s in moments like these that Jesus gently speaks, “My peace I give you.”
He isn’t handing us a temporary calm or a quick distraction. He’s offering His own steady presence. His peace isn’t something we have to work for or deserve—it’s something He places right into our hands because He knows exactly what we’ve been carrying. We just need to place our trust in Him and allow Him to walk with us lending His strength.
Reflect
Is there something I’ve been carrying on my own that I need to finally hand over to Him?
Pray
Jesus, let Your peace settle into the deepest places of my heart today, and fill me with the calm only You can give. Lord, I need you.
